Weightless Terminal Licence
The Weightless SIG aims to provide IPR-free licenses for the manufacture of Weightless terminals. To achieve this all members will be required to sign an IPR agreement that waives their right to assert any IPR they may hold against the Weightless standard in return for a royalty-free licence to design and sell Weightless terminal equipment or related services.
The Weightless SIG will provide a RAND environment for the manufacturing of base stations. Royalties can be charged by any companies holding essential IPR but these will need to be on RAND terms.
