Standards Bodies
The Weightless M2M technology standard is currently being developed within the Weightless Special Interest Group (SIG) established for this specific purpose. The Weightless SIG sees strong benefits in the standard eventually becoming a recognised ETSI standard and is therefore working with ETSI to determine whether and when Weightless might be introduced into the ETSI standards-making process. Our current expectation is that this might happen in the first half of 2013 subject to acceptance by ETSI members and the resolution of any process-related issues. At this point the standard is expected to be well-formed and so ETSI approval might occur relatively quickly.
